History
Established in the mid-1850s, Pentland has much history to share with those who know where to look.
- Check out Pentland's History on display on the wall at the Pentland Hotel.
- Have a look at the Pentland Historical Railway Station Visit Norwood Lockup (old police cells) right next door to the Pentland Hotel at the back.
- Wander around the recently restored wooden church, St Mary's.
- Have a look at the beautiful old stables and a wander through the fruit trees on the pub grounds.
- Notice the site of the Cape River Meatworks on the banks of the Cape River. The history of the meatworks is on display at the Pentland Hotel. Footage of the meatworks from the Australian War Memorial's collection can be viewed online.
Events
- JUNE: Attend the Pentland Campdraft (also known as Sutherland Park) in June each year. Follow Pentland Campdraft on Facebook for more details or find out more about campdrafting.
- NOVEMBER: Attend a country race meet – the Pentland Races are held at the end of November each year and draw people from the surrounding areas for a great day out.

Arts & Culture
- Grab a coffee at Wookatook (opened in March 2018) and have a look at the local art on display in the gallery.
- Check out the local arts and crafts at the Pentland Art Gallery open Monday to Saturday 9am - 3pm. Visit the Pentland Markets held in the grounds of the Pentland Art Gallery on selected Saturdays 9am - 12pm during the winter months.
- Don't forget to check out Pentland's History on display on the wall at the Pentland Hotel.
- Play a game of pool on the free pool tables at the pub and chat to the locals.
Nature
- Stay the night in one of our motel rooms or take advantage of the free camping at the pub. This way you can enjoy a stroll at dusk and take in the amazing sunsets that only outback Australia can offer and with so little light pollution, star gazing is a true delight.
- Visit White Mountains National Park and the Burra Range Lookout, where there are some of the beautiful wildflowers out in winter.
